Terms of service
1. This agreement
These terms are the agreement between you and the operator of this service, who runs Laddercompetitie. By creating an account or using the service you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.
We may change these terms. The date at the top says when they last changed, and continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the new version.
2. What the service does
The service records badminton matches for a club and keeps a rating and a ranking for each player from those results. A club can run several ladders, invite members, and optionally publish a read-only leaderboard.
3. Your account
An account belongs to one person. You are responsible for it, which means:
- giving a real email address and keeping it current, since it is how we reach you;
- keeping your password, passkeys and authenticator codes to yourself — we will never ask you for any of them;
- everything done from your account;
- telling us as soon as you think someone else has got into it.
4. Clubs and who sees what
Joining a club makes your name, your results and your rating visible to that club. A club administrator can invite and remove members, run ladders, correct results and switch the public leaderboard on. If a club publishes its leaderboard, it shows display names, ratings and positions — nothing else, and no email addresses.
Clubs are kept separate. Being a member of one club gives you no access to another, whoever is running it.
5. Plans and payment
Some plans are paid. A billing account pays for one or more clubs, and the person who set it up decides which plan each club is on. What a plan includes is shown before you choose it.
- A paid plan renews automatically at the end of each period until it is cancelled.
- Moving to a larger plan takes effect immediately.
- Moving to a smaller plan takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for, so nothing is taken away that you have paid for.
- Cancelling stops the next renewal; the plan runs until the end of the current period.
- If a payment fails, the plan may be limited or suspended after the payment provider has stopped retrying.
Payments are handled by Stripe. Card details go to Stripe and are never stored by us; we keep the invoices and the identifiers Stripe returns.
6. Acceptable use
While using the service you agree not to:
- use it for anything unlawful, or to harass anyone;
- enter results for matches that were not played, or tamper with other people's ratings;
- take data out in bulk by automated means, beyond the exports the service offers;
- probe, overload or work around the security of the service, or try to reach another club's data.
7. Your data
To do its job the service stores:
- your name and email address, and the sign-in methods you set up;
- the matches you play, the scores, and the rating history that follows from them;
- and, only if your club turns it on, your display name and rating on a public page.
Match results are club records and are kept for as long as the club keeps them, including after you leave it. Ask your club administrator, or us, if you want your personal details removed.
8. Availability
We try to keep the service running and to keep your data safe, but we do not promise any particular level of uptime. Maintenance, faults and outages happen. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose.
9. Liability
The service is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability is limited to what you have paid in the twelve months before the claim.
Nothing here removes rights you have as a consumer, or liability that cannot be excluded by law.
10. Ending it
You can stop using the service at any time, and ask for your account to be closed. Closing an account does not by itself delete the matches you played, because they are also part of other people’s records.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or that is being used fraudulently. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will say why first.
11. Which law applies
These terms are governed by the law of the country in which the operator is established, and its courts decide any dispute about them.
